Fisherman Bios
Our family story in Alaska began in the early 1970s when family members first moved to the gateway city of Ketchikan Alaska. Following a brief stint in the timber industry, an opportunity to purchase a small commercial fishing vessel was seized and a new direction was taken. With the new found freedom that comes from owning your own vessel, the family migrated North and West and eventually ended up homesteading in the small town of Port Alexander on the Southern tip of Baranof Island. From this new home port, and with ready access to the bountiful fisheries that existed up and down the islands’ coast, they fought the often tumultuous weather and worked hard to earn a living and raise a family. With time and commitment, the knowledge required to target several varieties of salmon including King and Silvers, in addition to groundfish such as Halibut and Sablefish, and rockfish such as Rougheye and Yelloweye was gained, and it became possible to participate in different fisheries throughout the year. As time went by and with yearly visits outside of Alaska, there were many reminders as to how fortunate the family was to be able to experience Alaska and all it has to offer. One particular reminder became a clear theme over the years, and came in the form of numerous requests for fish from friends and relatives living in the lower-48 states. Based on these inquiries, the decision was made to create an additional opportunity for non-Alaskans by providing them increased access to consistently hard to get high-quality Alaskan seafood, and thus Alaskan Pride Seafoods was born. Delicious, wild, healthy, and sustainable, Alaskan seafood is second to none and we are proud to offer it as directly as possible to consumers. With seafood you truly get what you pay for, and we know that once you try it, you will want to serve it to all those who are important to you whether they are family, friends, or guests. Thank you for stopping by! Mulligan Family
